About the UBP

The United Bermuda Party (UBP) was founded on August 21st, 1964 by twenty-four Members of Parliament, under the leadership of Sir Henry Tucker.

In 1968 the UBP formed the first Government under Bermuda's new Constitution and universal adult suffrage, winning 30 of the 40 seats. Sir Henry Tucker was appointed Bermuda's first Government Leader.

On November 9, 1998, after thirty-five years in Government and eight successive electoral victories, the UBP lost the General Election to the Progressive Labour Party.

The Party, under the leadership of Mr. Kim Swan, welcomes all of those who believe the time has come for the return of government dedicated to serving the people first; to bringing all Bermudians together, black and white, rich and poor into one citizenry, where we look each other in the eye with respect, where we share a sense of positive direction toward a better Bermuda.
