Bermudians have paid far more taxes than necessary under the PLP Government, and had less money left over for themselves.
Annual payroll tax revenue has shot up from $150 mi l lion in 1998 to $270 million in 2006, an increase of 80 percent. Land tax has doubled, from $26 million to $52 million, during the same period.
Although many of our countrymen can shoulder the tax increases, many low-income earners are falling behind.
